Oh Jeez another study? This one says working overtime will give you high blood pressure.
I think they have it backwards. I have low blood pressure and I avoid work whenever possible. I think people with high blood pressure just naturally work too much. I think we should do a study of people who have low blood pressure and see if any of them even work at all.
I bet I could do a study any way I wanted to and find the results I wanted to find. The real question is Why bother to study it all? Its not like overtime is going away anytime soon.
Business today has decided it is more cost effective to work fewer people to death faster than to work more people to death slower. There are way too many jobs out there that require overtime. Either because they dont pay enough to live on regular hours or because they simply require you to work overtime to keep the job.
Besides, business is also getting rid of health insurance, they dont care how they work you to death. Just how much money they can squeeze out of the work you do.
I suggest we let the low blood pressure people (like me) run the world. We would abolish work altogether overtime or otherwise. Thats the ticket, whos stupid idea was all this work nonsense anyway. Appoint me ruler of the world and I will cure high blood pressure.

Ben I dont think you are supposed to be reading your Dads Blog from school. Especially considering all the things your Dad says about the school and the teachers, etc. (That ought to make them wonder!) Study hard and be smart! Love, Dad

Yesterday when I was on my Soapbox about the funeral procession rules I happened to think of a driving situation many moons (and quite a few summers) ago. This was before I-155 replaced the old Route 121 and I was on Broadway Rd. going west.
I came to the stop sign and was going to turn south on Rt.121. After a couple cars went by from the opposite direction there was an opening and I started to go when my passenger hollers, Hey! You just cut that guy off and he had the right-of-way!
A lengthy discussion (argument) ensued about who has the right-of-way at a two-way stop when someone is turning.
My passenger insisted the person turning NEVER has the right-of-way and must wait.
I insisted that you take turns at any stop sign situation.
So, yesterday, (just one Sun ago) while I was checking out the Rules of the Road (to make sure my funeral procession rant was correct!) I discovered there really wasnt a clear answer to the question.
So I sent the following question to the Secretary of States office:
Right of way question: Two-way stop you are facing west and have a stop sign. Cross traffic does not stop. Traffic coming towards you going east has stop sign. You are turning left (south). Do you take your turn and cross in front of eastbound traffic or does eastbound traffic always have right of way (they dont take turns) and you must wait until all traffic going straight has had their turn.
Michael
Here is the answer I received in my email today:
Typically, the car on the right has the right of way if both cars arrive at the same time. In your scenario, not only are you both on the right of each other, you also arrived at the intersection before the east bound car. Therefore, in that circumstance you may proceed before the car traveling east bound. You do not have to wait for all east bound traffic to go through the stop sign before you do.
Heh, Heh, Heh it would seem I was right! Now if I could just remember who I was arguing (discussing) this thing with I would really rub it in! (I hope you remember and are reading this!)
