Aren’t we forgetting the true meaning of
Christmas? You know, the birth of Santa.

Slowly but surely those who ruled Iraq before we arrived are taking over again. Now we are going to let Saddam’s officers back in charge.

I am Time’s Person of the Year! How lame is that? I always knew this was a marketing scheme to sell more magzines and still nearly hurled when I saw Duh-bya on the cover —— but this is the most outlandish drivel I have ever seen. Maybe our society really is circling the drain. You have to wonder if this is the best they can do.

Tazewell county tax bills will be late —— again. But according to the Journal Star a board member says, “We’re going to do it right this time.” Really? And just what is right about knowing in December you can’t get your job done in time and still thinking you “are going to do it right this time”? They have been collecting taxes for over a hundred years and still can’t get it right?

My brother just left. We had our usual conversation from soup to nuts. This time we found ourselves in disagreement about whether school kids ought to be allowed to have cell phones (turned on) in class.

We both made our points and neither convinced (or confused) the other. Now if we could only have this kind of free and open discussion at a school board meeting where the decisions are made.

Instead, you have to ask permission in advance to get a few minutes to state your opinion. No discussion and no opportunity to convince them to change.

Unless you initiate anarchy with many shouting people —— which is not to be confused with democracy. I would prefer democracy instead of anarchy but we’ve got a democratic republic instead. A fancy way of saying the many ruled by the few.
