12/31/06 New Year’s Eve «The Legel Report»
Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful.
It’s the transition that’s troublesome.

Brace yourselves! The new electric rates take effect on Tuesday! Read this article and get out your calculator. Then write your state representative a nasty letter telling them what you think of this extortion!

It sounds like a good morning to be indoors. I can hear the rain spattering on the roof of the sunroom and hear the wind flickering the flames in the stove. I think I may enjoy our sunroom more during bad weather than during good. It is so nice to be snug, warm and dry while the wind howls outside.

Another year almost gone and they fly by so fast. I think of all the things I had hoped to accomplish this year and I don’t think I made even half. Not that I had any great aspirations for the year. I am not big on resolutions or that sort of thing, but I do try to think ahead and plan for things to do. It’s just that I am a better planner than a doer!

As in most recent years past —— we plan to do our New Year celebrations at home — such as they are. We might even stay up until midnight this year —— and then again maybe not. It has been about 50 - 50 whether or not we make it to the New Year awake. Some years we just decide to let the New Year find us while we sleep. It mostly depends on what we can find on the TV.

Sounds like you’ll be ringing in the new year just about the same as this house! We’ll be serving red or white sparkling grape juices here. (Kroger had them and they’re dressed like nutcrackers -- Andy collects them)

What ever happened to the great tv shows that we used to watch on New Year’s Eve all night long? Just seems like you are lucky to find an hour show or something dealing with the new year and is entertaining. I remember pjs, balloons, hats, noisemakers, tv all night long on New Years Eve.

I think Dave had better work on the million with the new electric rates coming!

Stay snug as a bug in a rug today!

Same here with the grape juice. There was a time I would have been in a panic without some real booze for the event but that has been some time ago. I do wish there was more on TV worth watching —— and not just tonight!

I was doing some calculating and I think we won’t be running the air conditioner as much this summer!
MjL 31 Dec 2006, 8:57 a.m.
Start buying those battery operated personal fans to carry around with you for this summer! I’m sure those bills that will be coming will really stink! So much for trying to get ahead this year!
Tammy 31 Dec 2006, 8:59 a.m.
At the price of batteries I think I will have to hire someone to wave an ostrich feather at me!
MjL 31 Dec 2006, 9:05 a.m.
Gee....maybe that’s how to make your first million....sell ostrich feathers!
Tammy 31 Dec 2006, 10:54 a.m.
From our house to yours:

HAPPY NEW YEAR! May all of your wishes come true in 2007!

Dave, Tammy, Andy and Ashley
Tammy 31 Dec 2006, 9:22 p.m.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and yours as well!

Michael, Tracey, Noah, Ben, Aaron, Jake, Chris & Rosie
MjL 31 Dec 2006, 9:47 p.m.
I know “who” Rosie is...but Chris?
Tammy 31 Dec 2006, 10:03 p.m.
Chris is Noah’s parakeet! He is almost 10 years old (Chris that is).

Good night all —— we won’t make it to midnight this year either. Have a great evening and we will see you next year! Sleep tight!
MjL 31 Dec 2006, 10:17 p.m.
Nighty night! Where is Dick Clark? Another year without him? I’ve searched, but to no avail.

Wow...isn’t that a long time for a parakeet?
Tammy 31 Dec 2006, 10:39 p.m.
