02/16/07 Quote «The Legel Report»
As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents,
more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some
great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach
their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be
adorned by a downright moron.
H.L. Mencken

Hightower: The Workplace Body Snatchers
16 Feb 2007, 5:30 a.m.
I am looking forward to today after all the disruptions to my normally boring routines. Today Tracey will take the Ford to drive Aaron & Ben to school and herself to work. Noah will get himself to work in the Blazer. I won’t be able to go anywhere!

I had to take Tracey to work again yesterday so I would have a car to get groceries. I didn’t get very many supplies because I had to haul them all through the winter wasteland from the end of our drive to the house. We have enough to eat so we won’t starve, but some of the luxuries will be running out.

After spending some time on the phone yesterday I have determined there isn’t an aftermarket snowblower available to mount on the front of my lawn machine. So I will have to look at either a snow blade for the Blazer or a walk behind snowblower. We can’t really afford anything this season, but I think I am going to try to get something by next winter so it can sit in the garage.

I am fairly certain if I spend the money on snow removal equipment it will never snow this much again. That’s OK too.

I got stuck behind a dizzy dame yesterday who was the epitome of one of my pet peeves. The rear window of her car was almost completely clean - either because of the way the car had been parked or because the rear window defroster worked. I could see through to the front of the car where this dimwit was leaning so far forward I think her chin was on the dash as she tried to peer through a little patch where the frost and snow had been removed from the windshield.

I bet you could have covered the viewing area with a pie pan as she was driving nearly blind. She weaved back and forth up Court St. from near Pekin High School where she pulled out in front of me all the way up to the Wal-mart.

I don’t think we managed to get anywhere above 25 mph and few people would dare try to pass her as she weaved back and forth across the center line. I looked back and it looked like a two lane funeral procession and sounded like a parade with all the horn honking.

Every now and then some brave (or stupid) soul would zoom past her on the left as she wobbled to the right. Where’s a cop when you need one!

Buy a “snow something” please.....I’m tired of snow and snow shovels!

TGIF! (to all of those that it matters to)

I know, I know - It’s more like you’re tired of reading my grumbles and gripes!
MjL 16 Feb 2007, 6:36 a.m.
Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh....why didn’t you buy a snow blower this year! I’m sooooo sick of snow!
Tammy 16 Feb 2007, 6:55 a.m.
Shhhhhh! Hush now Tammy! You are tempting the snow gods!
MjL 16 Feb 2007, 6:59 a.m.
I just got done scooping again! I sure hope it stops soon.

Guess I’ll go to bed now and get up to a “wonderful surprise”!
