[Reply to Tammy from last night] Good morning Tammy! I hope you dont have too much to scoop. You might have some due to the wind because I dont think we got a lot more actual snowfall. I may be wrong because it is still dark and I cant see so good because of all the snow.
The weather forecast says it should start melting Monday so that is what we are counting on. Well muck out what we have to keep the two cars we got out so far from getting drifted in again, but I dont think we will be trying to clear the whole driveway. Hope that is the right decision.

It doesnt even look like I scooped last night! The drive has knee deep drifts again. Jackie and Dick are here and Ill bet they just LOVE the weather were having. Jack Duvall gets married today at the Botanical Gardens. As much as I hate snow (well, I hate it where I have to scoop it and drive on it), when it melts, Ill probably be bellyaching because the basement is flooding! Hopefully, Dave has patched up the holes in the dewatering. When I asked him, he said well have to watch it.....I told him that I didnt want to watch the water flow in!
Guess Ill have some coffee and then go shake hands with a shovel!

Ours doesnt look too nice either. I think I will have to organize a shovel party amongst the boys so we can get our cars out again. I would like to be able to get them back into the garage but I dont think that will happen. The Ford really looks to be snowed in pretty good with drifts right up to the hood. Poop! And there isnt a snow blower to be had in the whole state I dont think!

Heres a quick photo of the Ford from up in our sunroom. It doesnt really do justice to the depth of snow. The basement door is snowed in about waist deep and the front door about knee deep.

Our dog #JakeLegel is the one most inconvenienced as he does not have the pleasure of indoor plumbing. Heres a couple shots of him wading through the snow to pee. Poor Jakes willy is IN the snow! We couldnt bear to take a photo of his #2 functions because he was so embarrassed about his butt buried in the snow!

Awwwwwwwwwww... poor Jake! Really....give him some privacy!
Man, concrete sure expands under snow! I just got done shoveling and I think the drive grows every time it snows! Were dug out and ready to roll, but Ive no place to roll to. Oh well. (no Im not visiting you or attending that shoveling party!)
Stay warm...

I rousted everyone out for an hour or so and we cleared enough to get to the cars and get them out of the drive. Still at least 60 feet from the garage but we can get out. Now I pray for warm weather!
I forgot to mention from your other message; we consider it Spring when the sump pump starts running!
MjL 17 Feb 2007, 1:55 p.m.
Gee, I wish that was the case here -- sump pump running means spring -- both of our sumps run all year round. I think our house was built on a puddle!
In fact, Dave is at Farm and Fleet right now looking/buying a new sump. One of our sumps is above ground and it is getting sooooo noisy when it runs. It actually can scare me at night and keep me up. Hopefully he finds a submersible one for that hole.
Then, Im sure hell have to have a nap before thinking about installing it!

Actually I am surprised ours doesnt run more than it does, we live at the base of a long hill that runs all around the back of our house. There seems to be just enough sand in the soil to drain it away before it gets to the house. We dont usually have any trouble until the spring thaw and then any major rain storms.
Good luck with the new pump and of course it is advisable to take a nap before any major household repairs. Or any minor ones, or hangnails or whatever!
