Although it was just a little on the warm side yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL day! I spent most of it on the mower and out puttering in the yard.
I spent at least an hour taking down the cargo net we had strung across the boys climber. The post that supported one corner had rotted through and broken off. The boys rarely ever mess with the climber or swing anymore so I doubt anyone will miss it.
The hardware had rusted pretty badly so I had some trouble getting the nuts and bolts apart. I was tempted to just cut the netting down but decided I didnt want to leave the bolts sticking out to snag somebody walking by.
Ive seen a couple interviews of Al Gore lately. He has been hawking his new book on the talks shows and I have to say I think he has hit the nail on the head as regards the media nonsense. We dont have a participative democracy anymore because people are really too uninformed beyond the propagandistic sound bite.
Unfortunately I dont think that is going to change anytime soon. Modern media is Big Business and really isnt too interested in educating the masses. It is interested in parting the cash from the masses. Fact is, they are using Al Gore as a similar theme as the water skiing monkey. Give him just enough air time to sell his book, but not enough to make any real points.
And I think perhaps Al is doing the same. I think after he was robbed in 2000 his bitterness made him give up on America for good. Cant say I blame him.
I also see Cindy Sheehan has learned the same hard lesson. Americans really are more concerned about American Idol than they are the daily slaughter in Iraq.
