Christmas is a time when you get homesick -
even when you’re home.

This Christmas there were fewer presents than usual.  The boys are all of an age we don’t really know what to get them.  We decided that cash was always a welcome gift and this year that is mostly what they got from us and their Grandparents.  Noah got some dress shirts and ties to wear to work along with a tie rack to keep his ties on.  Aaron & Ben got some nice shirts and some smaller things.  But it was the cash that was the hit of the day.

Denise got Tracey a pillow with a moose embroidered on it and a brass mirror frame that looked like a moose.  Very Cool!  Evidently Noah told her how much Tracey loves a moose.

Noah left to spend the rest of the day with Denise and her family.  Ben & Aaron later left to go play at a friends house.  They had bought some computer games online but it took all day for them to download so they decided to leave for a while.

I took a nice long afternoon nap.  A very nice Christmas present!
A robot on a rail makes its way through the 130 foot long, 3-and-a-half story aisle stacked with thousands of books in metal boxes to find the bin with the requested book at the Marriott Library on Dec. 18, 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Marriott Library is streamlining, part of a $77 million renovation designed to consolidate space and corral the tons of information. A $12 million compact book storage space and automatic retrieval system is a central part of the overhaul. Rail-mounted robotic cranes retrieve bins, where the volumes are stored and marked by code. Patrons turn in call numbers and operators retrieve the requested work from the bins in about 10 minutes.

Nativity Scene

In a small Southern town there was a “Nativity Scene” at the church that showed great skill and talent had gone into creating it.  Lots of townsfolk had been pressed into service.  The volunteer fire department supplied the wise men and the shepherds.  There was no time for a rehearsal so the preacher had told everyone to get their lines from the bible.

Well, Christmas Eve came.  The play went great until the the wise men entered.  There was a hush as these three came in, wearing their coats and fire hats, dragging a length of hose.

The preacher slapped his forehead and muttered.  But there was nothing to do but proceed.

After the play, he rounded on these fellows.  “How stupid can you be?” he asked.

After he stormed out, one of the firemen looked at the other and shrugged.  “Dangit.” he said, “We done jus like he said.  We read it in the bible.  There it were: And three wise men come from a far.”
