Already the press, the GOP and Hillarity are trying to diminish Obamas victory by under-reporting what actually happened in Iowa. Lets look at the numbers. This year there was roughly a turnout of 239,000 Democrats, compared to 124,000 who showed up for Democratic caucuses in 2004. Most projections had estimated turnout would be about 150,000. So nearly twice as many Democrats showed up and I suspect Obamas drive to organize young people had something to do with that ... not all of it ... but a goodly number. Next, the GOP turnout was less than half of the number of Democrats at about 114,000 people. Do the math. Obama received more than twice as many votes as HuckaScab and almost a tenth more than his Democratic rivals. So were do these math challenged people get off wondering if Obama is electable?
Considering Hillarity and the rest have had DECADES to build a political machine they should be ashamed to even talk about experience, etc. after such a trouncing. Still, it tickles me to death that Hillarity continues to strut about as if she won. I hope the rest of the country sees her for the poser she really is. On the other side of the coin, if we end up with another Republican administration this country deserves what it gets.
The Baptist Church In a small, conservative, Midwestern town, a new bar/tavern started constructing a building to open up their business.
The local Baptist church started a campaign to block the bar from opening with petitions and prayers.
However, work progressed right up till the week before opening, when lightning struck the bar and it burned to the ground.
The church folks were rather smug in their seeming success, till the bar owner sued the church on grounds the church was ultimately responsible for the destruction of his building, either through direct or indirect actions or means.
The church vehemently denied all responsibility or connection to the buildings demise in its reply to the court.
As the case made its way into court, the judge, in looking over the paperwork at the hearing, commented, I dont know how Im going to decide this, but as it appears from the paperwork, we have a bar owner that believes in the power of prayer, and an entire church congregation that doesnt!
