Former Ohio Senator Howard Metzenbaum, an Ohio Dimocrat who was a feisty self-made millionaire, art collector and one-man roadblock against corporate tax breaks, has died. He was 90. His former chief of staff, Joel Johnson, says Metzenbaum died Wednesday night at his home near Fort Lauderdale, FL.
I went to the web site for Bens robot competition and watched the live streaming for a while yesterday afternoon. After a while I let it run in the background while I computered and eventually I heard his team number announced. I watched the match and they won! Bens team was the first to get around the track, the first to knock a ball down off the rack and the only one to actually throw a ball over the rack.
They also managed to knock another ball down off the rack in the last seconds to get some extra points. Way to go Roboteers! Ben called around 10:00 last night to tell us they were ranked around the middle of the pack and they would finish up the seed matches and go into finals today.
He was also very full of pizza as they had a pizza party at the hotel just before he called. Sounds like he is having a grand time!

One of Traceys employees called off work yesterday so she ended up working until they closed. Funny how that seems to happen on sunny Friday afternoons? She didnt get home until almost 10:00 so she spent her entire birthday at work. She did get some flowers from one of her patients and a card from her employees. We hadnt any plans for her birthday but I had sort of hoped to take her out for a steak or something.
