Yesterday was a busy day. Tracey had to go to the clinic in Decatur all day to get familiar with their operation. The manager there is leaving and Tracey will be helping her boss fill in. It sounds like she will be making the almost 2 hour (one-way) commute at least once a week and will also be working on some of their administrative stuff like payroll from home on her computer. All of this, of course, in addition to all the responsibilities she already has with her own clinic in Pekin. And also, of course, at no extra pay or overtime pay. All just part of the friendly service modern workers provide for free to greedy corporations too cheap to hire enough help.
Aaron & Ben returned home yesterday from the visit down at the Neal farm in Watson near Effingham, IL. They made the trip home with no problems either. I had asked them to give me a phone call just before they left so I would know when to really start worrying. I got a couple calls along the way to clarify some map reading but they would have managed the trip just fine without me. I had gotten used to all the peace and quiet around here but it is real good to have them home. Too much peace and quiet can be boring anyway.
I had forgotten to mention that my sister Denise (DD) had brought her computer to Moms last Saturday and gave it to me to work on for her. It is one sick puppy! I spent about 3 hours trying to get it to cooperate Monday before finally wiping the hard drive and starting over. It was moving slower than molasses and I couldnt get through the molasses to find out what the problem was. She hadnt been using it for some time so I dont think she lost too much data. I had it going great yesterday until I loaded up the SP2 updates and Norton AV. Somewhere along there it got clogged up. I have since uninstalled the Norton and have been trying to sort out what the problem is. It may be that the machine just doesnt have enough physical memory but I am still working on it. I have until this coming Saturday to get it healed up before taking it back to her. Ill probably end up spending several hours today on it and will likely mess up my nap schedule ... again!
A two dollar bill is taped to the revolving door leading to the Bear Stearns global headquarters in New York March 17, 2008. [MjL --> Significant because that is how low the stock value dropped before funded by the taxpayer and given to Chase Bank. Nobody seems to wonder where all that money and property went, only that we MUST save all these poor banks. No concern whatever for the people who have lost money and homes in these ridiculous shell games. <-- MjL] |
Roses & Hanging Baskets A teenage granddaughter comes downstairs for her date with this see-through blouse on and no bra. Her grandmother just pitched a fit, telling her not to dare go out like that! The teenager tells her, Loosen up Grams. These are modern times. You gotta let your rose buds show! and out she goes. The next day the teenager comes down stairs, and the grandmother is sitting there with no top on. The teenager wants to die. She explains to her grandmother that she has friends coming over and that it is just not appropriate ... The grandmother says, Loosen up, Sweetie. If you can show off your rose buds, then I can display my hanging baskets.
