I know you have seen pictures of this bird box before.  It was originally built for flickers and the first summer that is who moved into it.  Since then we have had starlings and just recently two families of squirrels.  Yesterday afternoon Tracey noticed somebody new had moved into the neighborhood and we couldn’t quite see well enough into the box to see what it was.  My first guess looking through the binoculars was that it was a cat or maybe a small raccoon but it wasn’t quite right.  The picture below was the best we could do until Tracey finally got close enough and quick enough to flash the picture at the very bottom!
That is sooooo cool -- the owl!!!  A couple of years ago, we had 3 screech owls that would meet in our backyard and then fly off together.  It ended up being our nightly entertain.  We would sit on the patio right before dusk and wait for them to arrive.  Then 1 afternoon I came home and found that 1 of them (I think he was from the group) had flown into the back of the house.  I jumped through the hoops and paid out the nose to have him stuffed.  He keeps an eye on my classroom now.  He is really neat looking and the kids love it.
Have a quiet day!

I think it would be cool to have a stuffed critter but I don’t think Tracey would let me have one :-[

It will be a quiet day because Aaron & Ben are still down on the Neal farm and Noah & Tracey are off to work.  That just leaves the Jakester and I to our nap time!
