I’ve been trading barbs on the Journal Star opinion forum about Global Warming with a right wing-nut who continues to spew about how it’s all a hoax dreamed up by Al Gore.  He refuses to understand the glaciers are almost all gone, the polar ice cap is disappearing at an alarming rate, etc. etc.  He just wants to quote the junk science bought and paid for by the corporate owned think-tanks who have a very vested interest in maintaining the status quo.  They have made a fortune by pillaging the planet.  It astounds me how so many people can be so damned willfully ignorant!

On another blog there is a thread about Wal-mart.  I didn’t get into it there because I hate to use somebody else’s blog to preach, but it is insane to praise Wal-mart for “providing jobs” when they have been the largest single corporation in the country for destroying good jobs.  They are the largest employer in many states and in many states their employees qualify for city, state, and federal aid.  Imagine that ... taxpayers subsidizing Wal-mart by feeding Wal-mart employees because they don’t make enough money to feed themselves.  And forget about benefits of any kind.  And not to mention all the cheap Chinese crap they sell for the same price as the quality American goods they put out of business.

Some days I get so exasperated with my fellow man I just don’t know what to do with myself.  I know it does no good to yell at them but I sure wish there was a way to educate people.  I fear the conservative grip is too tight.  We now have grown adults raising their hands for permission to go pee.
Ok, ok, you have my permission to go pee....just kiddin’!
Keep your fingers and toes crossed today.  Andy is getting ready to leave for the U of I and the state record book competition.  What a lot of work!!!  He was up until after midnight still getting extra things together.  Sure seems to me that once you enter your chapter competition, you would have your book finished.  Nope!  Every level you go on to has more and more paper work to be shuffled, typed, copied, etc.!  I’d hate to see what the paper work would be like to be in nationals!!!  I was bummed...no birthday dinner last night.  Andy was at the high school until 7:15 so we just had cheap boxed pizza for dinner!  :(  We were going to go to the Irish pub here in town.  He’s always wanted to eat there.  Maybe next year??

You Bet!
Good luck Andy!  I hope you can take it all the way to Nationals!

You can uncross all of your parts now.  He didn’t make it to Nationals, but he did a great job!  We’re proud of him for what he did accomplish and how far he did go with his record book!!
