In times like these it helps to recall that
there have always been times like these.

Tracey decided she will buy the Piaggio MP3 250cc scooter after all.  She called the dealer in Champaign yesterday and told him we would buy it.  It took a few phone calls between the dealer and Michael T. to arrange when we would pick it up.  Michael T. has agreed to drive it home for us Tuesday morning.  Now we just hope the weather will be good.  I also called the insurance agent yesterday and got things started on having it insured.  The next step will be getting her learners permit and then, eventually, taking the driving test.

Ben borrowed some money from us and bought a new bicycle.  It is a real nice 21 speed with wider tires and front suspension.  I don’t think it is quite what one would call a “mountain bike” but it is close with the wider nobby tires.  He is really thrilled to have it and immediately had to race off to town and back with it.  Check out the picture of Ben and his new bike at the bottom.

Tracey and I had dinner with Mom and DD at the Cracked Barrel as usual.  Once again we got to train a new waitress.  There sure seems to be a large turnover in wait staff at that place.  It all worked out but I do tire of new people who don’t quite know what they are doing.

Delegates gather around a table at the Democratic National Committee Rules and Bylaws Committee meeting in Washington May 31, 2008.  Michigan and Florida held primaries in January, earlier than party rules allowed, resulting in the disqualification of their delegates.  In all, there were 368 delegates in limbo.  The most widely discussed compromise envisioned granting seats to all the state’s delegates, but giving each one-half a vote.  The number of delegates needed to clinch the nomination would rise from 2,026 to 2,118.  That would satisfy Clintoon’s call for all to be seated without jeopardizing Obama’s lead.

Dirty Toothbrush

My son Zachary, 4, came screaming out of the bathroom to tell me he’d dropped his toothbrush in the toilet.  So I fished it out and threw it in the garbage.  Zachary stood there thinking for a moment, then ran to my bathroom and came out with my toothbrush.  He held it up and said with a charming little smile, “We better throw this one out too then, ‘cause it fell in the toilet a few days ago.”
