A conservative is a man with two perfectly good legs who, however, has never learned to walk forward.
Franklin D. Roosevelt

Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, seen here in 1973 arrest record, spent his last day at the office last Friday.  After decades of lawbreaking to insure Microsoft became the monopoly it is today, Gates turns his attention full time to the philanthropic Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation he established with his wife.  He hopes to redeem his soul after ruining so many lives with his badly written and overpriced software.
Obituary

My parents told me about Mr. Common Sense early in my life and told me I would do well to call on him when making decisions.  It seems he was always around in my early years but less and less as time passed by until today I read his obituary.  Please join me in a moment of silence in remembrance.  For Common Sense had served us all so well for so many generations.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years.  No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn’t always fair, and maybe it was my fault, Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.  Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.  Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.  Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot.  She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.  Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.  He is survived by three step brothers; I Know my Rights, Someone Else is to Blame, and I’m a Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.  If you still remember him pass this on.  If not, join the majority and do nothing.
Noah & Denise drove off for Phoenix this morning.  Noah finished up his packing and we talked about a half hour here at the house before Denise showed up with her car all packed.  They spent a few minutes with the last minute rearranging and then off they went.  Hopefully we will hear something from them from time to time over the next few days so we know if they are OK.

Tracey called the DMV this morning to ask some questions about her scooter and they didn’t have any answers for her.  She wanted to know if they would test her like a regular motorcycle even though the front wheels made it almost impossible to do the U-turn, or if they would test her like a 3 wheeled trike or cycle with a side car.  She got a call a while later and was told she would get a limited license as a trike.  This means she should be able to pass the test now without any further practice.  I called Michael T. to see if he could go with her this afternoon but he wasn’t sure.  I would imagine some time this week Tracey will have her license and will be off scootering.

I went into Tremont and stopped at the bank to get Noah’s birth certificate.  I was sure I had given him one copy already but I went ahead and got the second one out of the safe deposit box for him.  Now he will have both copies that we have ... I just hope he keeps track of them or he will be sending off to Peoria to get more copies.

I’m sure your house is happy/sad with Noah and Denise leaving town.  Keep us posted as to their whereabouts and happenings please.  I’m sure it will be a long 3 days for them and for you guys!!

They are spending tonight in Springfield, Missouri ... that is our latest update.  They didn’t get as far today because they spent some time visiting Denise’s great-grandmother.  They plan to be in Phoenix by Thursday evening to avoid the July 4th confusion so they will have a couple of long days driving ahead of them!
