 | A Metro light rail train pulled into downtown for the first time during a test of the new regional commuter rail system Thursday, July 10, 2008, in Phoenix. The 20-mile line, expected to open for passenger traffic in December, stretches from the citys northwestern neighborhoods through the heart of downtown Phoenix and east to Tempe and Mesa. |
Mexican Eggs Two Mexicans are on a bike along U.S. Hwy 52 about 15 miles outside of Lafayette, LA. One of the bikes tires goes flat and they start hitching a lift back into town. A friendly trucker stops to see if he can help and the Mexicans ask him for a ride. He tells them he has no room in the Trailer as he is carrying eggs. The Mexicans put it to the driver that if they can manage to fit into the back with their bike, will he take them back into town, and he agrees. They manage to squeeze themselves and their bike into the back and the driver shuts the doors and gets on his way. By this time he is really late and so puts the hammer down. Sure enough Old Smokey pulls him over for speeding. The good officer asks the driver what he is carrying to which the driver jokingly replies Mexican eggs. The Cop obviously doesnt believe this so wants to take a look in the trailer. He opens the back door and quickly shuts it and locks it. He gets on his radio and calls for immediate backup from as many officers as possible plus the Swat Team. The dispatcher asks what emergency he has that requires so many officers. Ive got a Tractor-Trailer stopped with 20,000 Mexican eggs in it ... two have hatched and theyve managed to steal a bike already. I need help! |
Today ought to be less hectic than yesterday. I spent yesterday morning on the phone tracking down a set of motorcycle straps made by Canyon Dancer. They fit over the handlebars so you can strap the front of the cycle down with a strap between the outside straps on the handlebars that pull down to help even the pull without harming the handlebar grips. I found them at Cupis in N. Pekin and once I got there I also bought a helmet. I sure have a fat head! From there I went to the Tractor Supply in Pekin and bought a nice 5-1/2 X 7 trailer. Lots of fun there waiting to fill out all the paper work for the state. I also had to buy a drop down hitch and a new ball. I called the bike dealer in Freeport and told them I would be up to get the new scooter on Monday. That will give me time this weekend to practice strapping Traceys scooter down and build some wheel chocks. Traceys scooter is just a little more that 2 inches shorter than mine will be so it should be similar enough. |

More pictures of Noah & Denises apartment in Mesa, Arizona. Tracey had a text message telling her she had cell phone pictures from Denise but we couldnt retrieve them until just a while ago. I guess US Cellular was having some interweb troubles. |

Hahaha, well, its not really that big--a bit less than 600 square feet, actually--it just seems roomier than it is. The white walls, mirrored closet, and vaulted ceiling helps with that :P. And yeah, no furniture--we have a queen size air mattress, an end table, a bookshelf, a metal folding chair, and a coffee table that Im picking up tomorrow with Clayton. One of my coworkers said he will give us his couch and loveseat as soon as he gets new furniture, but who knows when that will be. Oh well, though--Im just happy that we have our own place! Oh yeah, we have dishes, glasses, silverware, and cookware, too--forgot about that :P |
