Heart surgeon Dr. Michael DeBakey of Houston addresses the press after returning from Egypt where he performed surgery on the deposed Shah of Iran. DeBakey said in this Thursday on April 3, 1980 file photo taken in Houston that the Shah was quite ill, but that the operation was a complete success. DeBakey, the world-famous cardiovascular surgeon who pioneered such now-common procedures as bypass surgery and invented a host of devices to help heart patients, died Friday night July 11, 2008 at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, officials announced. He was 99.
A woman was trying hard to get the catsup to come out of the jar. During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her four-year old daughter to answer the phone.
Its the minister, Mommy, the child said to her mother.
Then she added, Mommy cant come to the phone to talk to you right now. Shes hitting the bottle.
I didnt get home from visiting with Mom & DD until after 9:00 last night so didnt get a chance to blog about our dinner and stuff. DD is having real problems at work with the new person who was hired to be her boss but is too incompetent to do the job. They want DD to evaluate her even after she has told them the woman is not able to do the job. So now they want her to train her boss and that isnt working out either. I can feel for her because it is very difficult to work with people who are demanding AND incompetent.
Noah phoned home last evening while I was gone and talked for over an hour with Tracey. He loves his new job and gets his new Blackberry tomorrow. He already has a company laptop he is happy with too. Denise is working at her new job too. They are slowly learning their way around town. They did buy a new vacuum cleaner and Noah managed to assemble it on the first try. All right!

Interesting day today. We started by loading Traceys scooter onto the trailer to see how to strap it down etc. I had planned to make wheel chocks out of wood but we decided we wont need them with all four corners strapped down. We took a drive out on the highway for a while to see how it handles. The bike bounced on the shocks a bit but nothing drastic. I think it will be OK.
Tracey rode her scooter out to the DMV so I could get some more practice on the riding test course. I almost flipped the thing head over heels on the braking test by giving it too much front brake. I bruised both knees when they hit the bike. Luckily I managed to lean back quick enough to keep from going over!
