There are worse things than getting a call
for a wrong number at 4AM:  It could be a right number.

Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, is surrounded by reporters as he leaves a committee meeting on Capitol Hill in Washington, Wednesday, July 30, 2008.  Stevens was indicted Tuesday on charges that he lied about gifts from an oil company on a Senate disclosure form.

This goofy jerk should have been indicted long ago for funding The Bridge To Nowhere!

Ben left for Watson today to spend a few days down on the Neal farm.  Aaron decided to stay home and play on his computer.  I got an email late in the afternoon from his Grandpa Neal saying he arrived safe and sound.  I’m glad of that because Ben would never think of calling home and telling us that himself!

My goodness what a day!  The low beam went out on my cycle and I finally decided to check into it.  My first thought was the wiring change I had made to keep both lights on at the same time.  Nope.  So I break out the book and discover I have to remove a bunch of screws to remove most of the trim from the front of the bike to get at the light assembly.  I end up spending more time crawling around under the front end hunting for screws E (2 each side) and F (stand on your head and look above the wheel!) than I really want to discuss.  After what seemed forever but was really only an hour or so in the oppressive heat and humidity ... Voila!  I discover the low beam halogen lamp had been installed crooked from the factory, had shorted out and melted into an ugly mess in my “light assembly, front”.  The pictures below show the charred connector that hooks to the rear of the bulb and the view from the front where the bulb is melted into the reflector and socket.  What a mess.  Now to see if the warranty will cover this!
