For every fatal shooting, there were roughly three non-fatal shootings.  And, folks, this is unacceptable.  And we’re going to do something about it.

It’s A Sign

Reverend Ole is the pastor of the local Norwegian Lutheran Church, and Pastor Sven is the minister of the Swedish Covenant Church across the road.  I was with them yesterday standing by the road, pounding a sign into the ground, that reads:

‘Da End iss Near!  Turn Yourself Aroundt Now!  Before It’s Too Late!’

As a car sped past us, the driver leaned out his window and yelled, ‘Leave us alone, you religious nuts!’  And wouldn’t you know from the sharp curve just ahead we heard screeching tires and a big splash...

Rev.Ole turns to Pastor Sven and asks, ‘Do ya tink maybe da sign should yust say ‘Bridge Out’?

My new windscreen arrived yesterday and what a wonderful difference it makes!  I didn’t realize how much I was being pounded by the wind and the noise level was decreased dramatically.  Tracey really rubbed it in telling me we should have gotten them sooner.  I agree ... but there is the little detail of having to pay for them!

We watched the Democratic Convention last night on C-Span.  I just can’t take the BS from all the talking heads on the Main Stream Media.  A rain storm rolled through just before Obama was to speak and it knocked out our satellite reception so we missed the first 15 - 20 minutes of his speech.  Afterwards we changed the channel to MSNBC and after about 20 minutes of their GOP nonsense I went to bed.  Listening to Brian Williams, Tom Brokaw and Dick Gregory was like listening to the GOP party spin room.  I think they talked more about McSame than they did about Obama and they were supposed to be covering the Democrats?  Brokaw said it was too soon to evaluate how historical the night was and would let history decide that.  As if he has EVER been to any political event that had a physical audience of over 84,000 people!  The thing that consistently gets the GOP elected is the continued support of rich talking heads like these guys who know their greed is satisfied by their corporate media masters and they do everything they can to elevate a senile old fool like McSame and downgrade anything Democratic.  They don’t even notice the extent to which they lie and distort.  Dick Gregory kept mentioning how Obama made clear his racial background and not once did Obama even mention it.  Brokaw said things like, “We all know the extent of McCain’s proven leadership ... it remains to be seen if Obama can learn that on the job.”  What leadership has McSame ever shown?  Etc.  Etc.

I listened to the first 15-20 minutes or so of Obama’s speech on the radio on my drive home last night, and he started off thanking everybody, of course, and went on to talk about how he planned on changing things.  He kept saying things like “It’s not that Senator McCain doesn’t care, it’s that he doesn’t KNOW” and many other such things.  He talked about how he would help the economy grow, and give tax cuts to the working class and small businesses, and take away the tax cuts for the rich and the big businesses that ship jobs overseas, etc.  He got people pretty riled up, by the sounds of it, and even the DJ at the radio station I was listening to started talking about how Obama was actually a “tough democrat” and that most of them were spineless :P

Hi Noah,
I managed to find the speech online and have provided a link to it above.  I have watched the whole thing through now and really think Obama did a good job.  I suspect Arizona is probably fairly Republican since McSame is their Senator ... and I also suspect that was probably the closest thing to a compliment the DJ would be allowed to give.

The MSM works hard many years for the Republican Party to help them get elected and trash popular Dems. After all, the big “journalists” in the MSM are all millionaires. I can guess with whom they can relate to best.
