The sole purpose of a child’s middle name is so he can
tell when he’s really in trouble.

Hospital Rules

Hospital regulations require a wheelchair for patients being discharged.  However, while working as a student nurse, I found one elderly gentleman -- already dressed and sitting on the bed with a suitcase at his feet -- who insisted he didn’t need my help to leave the hospital.  After a chat about rules being rules, he reluctantly let me wheel him to the elevator.  On the way down I asked him if his wife was meeting him.

“I don’t know,” he said.  “She’s still upstairs in the bathroom changing out of her hospital gown.”

This was Alan’s brand new bike and for some reason he decided to sleep on the living room couch with it by his side.  I can almost imagine how grand it would be to go back in time and be so young and dedicated to your new bike again!

Tracey and I went to the Cracked Barrel for breakfast yesterday morning.  The lady at the cash register asked me if we were any relation to Andy Legel.  It seems her daughter has had her eye on Andy and this lady was just all kinds of complimentary about what a grand lad Andy is.  Just thought I would pass that along ... not only are there a number of girls chasing Andy but there are some Moms cheering them on.  Good luck Andy!

I FINALLY mowed the grass!  Some spots were over a month deep.  Really bad.  I don’t think I saved any gas by skipping because it took so much longer to churn through the stuff and it looks like a mess to boot.  I don’t think there’s enough to bother bailing, but enough to make it look real bad.  Think maybe I should mow more than every 4 - 5 weeks.

I just happened to remember a moral dilemma from last Saturday.  Aaron had a couple buddies over to play games on his computer (and to generally hang out, tell loud stories, eat all our food, etc.)  About 10:45 p.m. it dawned on me that they were still at our house and there is an 11:00 curfew on teens driving on the weekend.  So what to do?  We finally did nothing except to remind them because it was obvious they were going to break curfew before they got home.  Tracey and I finally decided it wasn’t us going to court if they got caught and it really was their parent’s job to keep track of them.  And it wasn’t like they were drinking, partying or being bad kids, they just think the curfew is ridiculous — and so do I.

Ok, I guess I’d better start eating at the Cracked Barrel from now on!!  Hmmm...wonder who this girl is???  I’ll have to share this info. with Andy!  I’m not so sure that I’m ready to share this “grand lad” just yet!!  ;)
Small world...that happened to me about you (well...kind of!)  I got sick and tired of fighting with Medtronic over Andy’s pump supplies.  I found out that Pekin Prescription Lab now carries his supplies and that my insurance would “allow” me to get them from there.  So, I switched and it’s been fantastic!  The last time I called to place an order, they asked if the supplies were for Michael.  We’ll just say that “great minds think alike”!

Hi Tammy ... I don’t know if this daughter was a secret admirer or if Andy knows all about it ... the Mom did say the daughter had been to Andy’s graduation party so I would bet Andy at least knows her pretty well.

Pekin Prescription Lab has been good to me as well.  They even take care of all the paperwork with CAT insurance, etc.  When I pick up my stuff I get a receipt and don’t pay anything until they bill the insurance ... then about once or twice a year I get bill from them for whatever insurance doesn’t pay.  It’s a good idea to keep track of what you get because it may be a few months before you get a bill and you might not even remember what was what for the billing period.  I used to go to Walgreen’s and got plain fed up with their long lines, delays, snotty attitude and rude mouths.

Hey I remember that picture.....I bought that bike In May of  1973 and we moved to Pekin the following month.  That picture, if I am remembering correctly, was taken the last night we stayed at 213 Craig Road...the next day we finished packing and moved out. I put a speedometer on the bike shortly after moving and logged every mile riding back and forth from Pekin to Marquette that whole summer of 73.  I would ride to fro 2,3,4 time a day. By the end of the summer the speedometer had clocked over 1200 miles!
I did Love that Bike!!! still got it too!! anybody for a ride? Oh yeah, 1st time I was ever pulled over by a cop, for speeding, was on that bike....a story for another time.

I thought that would get a rise out of you.  I tripped over that while looking through the pictures I had scanned and thought immediately of how much you loved that bike!

So Andy has an admirer, eh?  Is she a redhead?  That would be great, since Tom and I both have redheaded girlfriends--it’s a tradition now, lol!
Noah L 08 Sep 2008, 6:14 p.m.
Well, Noah, if it’s the girl that I’m thinking of, she’s a blonde! (in every sense of the word!)  Sorry!  ;)
