You can pray for someone
even if you don’t think God exists.

The Smurf balloon makes its way through Columbus circle during the The Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade in New York, November 27, 2008.

MjL => I can actually remember once upon a long time ago when I used to lay on the living room carpet at my grandparent’s home in Washington watching the Macy’s Parades, both Christmas and Thanksgiving.  I doubt kids think those monster balloons are cool enough to watch anymore ... I guess it didn’t take much to entertain us way back then.

God is Watching

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch.  At the head of the table was a large pile of apples.  The nun made a note and posted it on the apple tray, “Take only one, God is watching.”

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table, was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.  A child had written a note:

“Take all you want -- God is watching the apples.”

I met Michael T. and his wife Sue at the Bob Evan’s in Pekin yesterday morning but it was too crowded.  So we decided to go to the little cafe at the north end of Tremont.  I guess this place has changed ownership several times over the years.  I haven’t been in there for probably 15 years and when I went it was basically locals only who got any attention or service.  It seems to be a pretty nice place now and perhaps I will start going more often.

Michael & Sue brought their grand-daughter along.  I would guess her age to be somewhere between 9 months and a year or so old.  It was nice to have her there.

As usual we discussed politics and stuff.  All of us are very glad to be rid of Bush and hopeful that Obama can bring the changes we need.
