About 1,900 people gathered at Stonehenge in Wiltshire, England to celebrate the shortest day of the year. Druids, pagans and tourists gathered at 0800 GMT to see the sun rise. The pagan tradition is also known as Yule and is one of the oldest winter celebrations. The Druids (Celtic priests) would cut the mistletoe that grew on the oak tree and give it as a blessing.
A man walks out to the street and catches a taxi just going by. He gets into the taxi, and the cabbie says, Perfect timing. Youre just like Frank.
Passenger: Who?
Cabbie: Frank Feldman. Hes a guy who did everything right all the time. Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happened like that to Frank Feldman every single time.
Passenger: There are always a few clouds over everybody.
Cabbie: Not Frank Feldman He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand-Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star and you should have heard him play the piano. He was an amazing guy.
Passenger: Sounds like he was something really special.
Cabbie: Theres more... He had a memory like a computer. He remembered everybodys birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order and which fork to eat them with. He could fix anything. Not like me. I change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Frank Feldman, he could do everything right.
Passenger: Wow, some guy then.
Cabbie: He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But Frank, he never made a mistake, and he really knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good. He would never answer her back even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too. He was the perfect man! He never made a mistake. No one could ever measure up to Frank Feldman.
Passenger: An amazing fellow. How did you meet him?
Cabbie: Well, I never actually met Frank. He died. Im married to his widow.
Yesterday turned into One Of Those Days. Mom called to let us know Tracey had left her purse there Saturday night so we went out into the frigid world to retrieve that. I did manage to fix Moms email program while we were there ... stuff was getting stuck in her Outbox and just kept sending over & over again. Her Sent folder was too full ... I deleted that and all was well. So the trip was a success and we had Traceys purse. Except I forgot my gloves and left them there.
Not long after we got home Ben came through the house telling us we had a busted water line in the laundry room! So Tracey ran down to the basement and shut off the main water valve. It evidently broke back in the wall on the supply side of the valve at the laundry room sink so we couldnt work on it without shutting down the whole house anyway. Tracey went off to work and I went to Menards to get a couple shut off valves. I cut into the lines in the basement before they run up to the laundry room and put the valves in. We have the water back on in the rest of the house but not in the laundry room. I suspect the water line froze up back there but dont know for sure. It is always something. Also I managed to mess up one of the mashed fingers on my right hand again. I think when I originally mashed them I broke the end of my middle finger. I was trying to tighten the pipe cutter with those fingers and something felt like it popped or let go in the finger again ... it really hurt like a ... well you know. Later it quit throbbing so much but the whole end of the finger has gone numb again. Just made the pipe work so much more interesting to finish.

Thanks for the thought Mom. It would be nice to have you fix it for me but I think I shall have to wait for it to heal itself. Healing is another thing that takes longer as I grow older.
