All that money you’ve lost — where did it go?

Interesting article.  It doesn’t explain how the greatest vanishing act of the century actually started back many decades, but it is a start.  Once upon a time money had a value based upon the Gold Standard.  Another Republican administration, Tricky Dick’s to be exact, decided money didn’t have to have a value and convinced Americans to take our monetary system off the Gold Standard.  It was a vain attempt to quell inflation that did just what any thinking person would expect ... inflation exploded because money was now devalued.  No standard of value ... no value.  No value, takes more to buy something.  Inflation.  So we have been merrily going on faith that money has a value.  And people bought all sorts of paper such as stocks, bonds, mortgages, etc.  And now they suddenly discover that money really has no value.  Except it did for those of us who actually worked for a living.  Every dollar represented a period of time spent sweating, cussing and sometimes bleeding to labor for somebody else.  In return we got paper or even digital numbers in a computer database.  And now we find out all that hard work can simply disappear at the speed of Wall St.

Attn: Media: Earmark-loving Sarah Palin is not a reformer

One of Sarah Palin’s major selling points is her supposed reputation as an anti-wasteful-spending reformer who will clean up Washington.  Well, the only problem with that is her records from back when she was mayor have surfaced, and in those records she boasts about getting, you guessed it, federal money for pork barrel projects.

The LA Times reported that McCain was criticizing Palin’s earmarks at the time that his now-running mate was securing them.  It’s revelations like these that can quickly erode candidates’ maverick reputations.

When will the media start scrutinizing Palin’s real record?  The McCain campaign is going to attack them as being unfair/sexist/liberal/etc. no matter what they do.  Might as well report the real story.
The high price of oil has brought the desired effect from the oil industry ... the steady beat of dire threats, misconceptions and outright lies about the need to expand offshore drilling, the opening of ANWR and other bogus claims from the GOP as they seek to do the bidding of their Big Oil masters.  You have heard or will hear many complete lies about how Hurricanes Rita and Katrina caused no damage to offshore oil rigs and “not one drop of oil was spilled”.  McCain has been spouting this nonsense for weeks now.  It is a TOTAL LIE!
