A federal appeals court in Tennessee Tuesday rules against Caterpillar retirees who were suing over healthcare. The retirees claimed the company went back on a promise to provide them with free health care for life under a previous contract. CAT says those workers are covered under a contract that started in 1992 when the company scaled back health care benefits. Tuesday the court of appeals sided with CAT, sending the case back to district court. The class–action lawsuit filed in Nashville, sought coverage for workers who retired between January 1992 and March 1998.
