After 55 years as sentry to the stars, the Peoria Astronomical Societys Northmoor Observatory dome at Donovan Golf Course was relieved of duty early Wednesday morning. More than 100,000 visitors over the past five decades have peered through the dome at the nearest orbit of Mars in 60,000 years, countless meteor showers and the moons of Jupiter, but rust and age took a toll. Members of the Peoria Astronomical Society researched repairing the dome and concluded replacement was a better option.
Yesterday started pretty good, until I went out to the Blazer at least. The left rear tire was dead flat. It didnt take much looking to find what looked to be about a 1.5 inch long half-inch screw sticking out of the tire.
I still have some car credits with my AARP Towing and Service plan so I called them up and they sent out a nice young man to change my tire for lazy me.
I took the tire to town and had it plugged and put back on the Blazer. The hardest part of the whole operation is the goofy lift device GM uses to pull the spare up underneath the back of the vehicle. You have to practically crawl under there to get it started.
The only other thing I managed to do was go to Radio Shack and buy Ben a couple cable tv connectors so he can watch TV in his room on the monster monitor he bought.
It rained and thunder stormed the whole day long and I took a nice long afternoon nap.
