Pat Died Over the Weekend

Bridget went to see Father O’Malley. “Father, Pat died over the weekend.”

“I’m sorry, Bridget, but it wasn’t a happy life with the drinking and gambling.”

“No, Father, he wasn’t much of a provider.”

“And he wasn’t a faithful husband, was he?”

“No, Father, there were other women.”

“The social worker says he was starting to get violent?”

“Yes, Father, it’s true, but I’ll always remember what he said to me just before he died.”

“Oh, and what did he say?”

“He said, ‘For God’s sake, Bridget, put down the gun.”
