Gov. Sarah Failin announced she would not accept nearly a third of the federal stimulus money offered to the state, but Dimocrats are charging the move will hurt Alaskans. Failin on Thursday said she would accept only 69% of the estimated $930 million that could flow to the state. Failins harshest critics said Friday that in rejecting the stimulus money, the former GQP vice presidential candidate was making a play to run for president in 2012 run. We think it is outrageous that we have a governor who is willing to turn down Alaskans fair share of federal stimulus money, money that would go to education, public safety, unemployment resources, health programs, said Patti Higgins, chairwoman of the Alaska Dimocrat Party. It is very clear that the governor is doing this just to further her own narrow political national agenda and ambitions.
The weather was great again yesterday and I still didnt manage to get much done. I fooled with the scooter for a while and got the GPS mounting bracket put on. Im going to have to find some way to shade the screen as it is very hard to see the screen with the glare of the sun.
It was nice to have it on though because now I know exactly how badly the speedometer is set. It reads almost 5 mph faster than reality, so I ride it at 97 km/hr when the speed limit is 55 mph. Confusing! The speedometer is set up with both Kph and Mph but the Kph is the primary scale and much easier to read. The GPS really simplifies it all.
Tracey and I scootered to Bob Evans for lunch after I got done with the GPS. We then were lazy around the house until we went to supper with Mom & DD. Just a couple lazy bums. No real news with Mom or DD —— we sat around Moms trailer discussing the same ol, same ol and then came home to beach out in front of the TV.

Ben & Aaron are on Spring Break and Ben will be leaving today to spend some time on the Neal Farm in #Watson, Illinois near Effingham.
Aaron is going to stay home because he would rather play with his computer than actually interact with people. I just hope Ben got enough sleep last night to make the trip without getting sleepy.

For the past year I have driven my car according to what my speedometer said. I got a GPS a couple months ago and was real surprised that for the past year Ive actually been going 5 MPH under the limit. That little bit of speed makes quite a differnce when going long distances like I have to every weekend. I go by my GPS only now. I actually dont even have to look at it. I go until I hear the loud gothic church bell that tells me Im going 3 MPH over the limit then hit the cruise control.

My speedometer is less than 1MPH off so Ill stick with my speedometer. I do need to have my wiring checked though because one of my plugs doesnt work and I have to hit the console for the lights on my shifter to turn on. Ben mentioned he was going to Watson, but I didnt know Aaron wasnt going. Maybe Ben will take my instructions and build a forge down there and make some knives

Oh yeah, and I know what you can use to make a sun shade for your GPS--thermoform plastic! Theres a brand called Kydex that is used for ducting, control panels, and sheaths/holsters . I have a 12x12 sheet of it to make a sheath for my knife as soon as I put a new handle on it. You just have to heat it up to about 300*F (toaster ovens or paint-stripping heat guns work fine, apparently) and mold it however you want. Kinda neat, really.

That sounds like some handy stuff, who might carry this stuff? Anybody local or do I need to find it on the internet?
