Emma Heming and actor Bruce Willis have tied the knot in a Caribbean island ceremony. It is the second marriage for Willis, 54, and the first for Heming, 30. The couple met through friends and have been together for more than a year, the publicists said. At the wedding were Willis daughters, Rumor, 20; Scout, 17; and Tallulah Belle, 14. Their mother and Willis first wife, actress Demi Moore and her husband, actor Ashton Kutcher, also attended the ceremony.
Hi Noah & Michael, I dont know quite how I would form something like that but it does sound like a possibility. Let us know where we can buy this stuff if you can Noah. Unless it requires a drive to Phoenix of course! 8-)
What I have found so far: KYDEX® Sheet is typically not a cost-effective substitute for cheaper thermoplastics such as polyethylene, styrene, or cheap ABS, unless those materials are not performing satisfactorily. KYDEX® Sheet can be very competitive and effective as an alternative to painted metal, fire-retardant ABS, Noryl®, Lexan® (polycarbonate), etc.
If you go to Grainger, (I think we still have one in E.Peoria), http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/guideBrowse.shtml and in Type select thermoformable you can get ABS in 1/16 X 12 X 48 for $16.07 and 1/8 X 12 X 48 for $32.25. Just a little more than you need.
Also as an aside, consider putting a lip on the leading edge so that if you happen to go over the handlebars you dont have a disemboweling edge to get past.

Yikes! Good advice but I hate to read things like disembowel in conjunction with anything! I will have to consider the design and function with this and other materials in mind. I was thinking of something like a dark piece of aluminum J channel used for trimming out exterior house siding —— very cheap and pliable, but may be too flexible. We shall see ——

How about one of those cheap plastic folders or three ring binders. You could cut a chunk out of them and it would be flexible enough to just velcro it to the GPS, non-disemboweling and you have a choice of several colors.

Wow, Mike, you did a lot of research pretty quick. Yes, there are cheaper solutions, but Kydex really isnt that terribly expensive--$9 for a 12x12 sheet, and I cant imagine you would use the whole thing for a GPS unit. I ordered mine from a knife kit website, but you can order it from www.kydex.com I believe. I actually e-mailed somebody there at Kydex and they sent me a box of color and texture samples for free, so you could always give that a try.
