Volunteers ride in the scoop of a front end loading tractor after sandbagging around a home threatened by flood waters from the Red River in Fargo, ND, March 26th 2009.
The boys are still on Spring Break and our house has become ground zero for them and several of their friends. As a result we have running, shouting, laughing and all manner of teenage boy ructions going on from noon til 4 a.m.
Needless to say I am having a hard time getting any sleep between all that going on and the troubles of the cantankerous breathing machine. I tried to take a nap yesterday afternoon and that failed because I couldnt get to sleep with all the racket going on.
I have refrained from saying much to the boys (what willpower!) because I know it is the Infernal Machine that is driving me to distraction more than the noise of their good humor.
The last of the marauders finally left the house last night at midnight and nobody slept over so it got relatively quiet. I could only manage to sleep until 4 a.m. because all that air being pushed through my nose really dries me out and I cant take it anymore.
Im still cranking the humidity settings up and down. I either end up all dried out or drowning. I discovered last night if you get an air leak around the mask it causes more grief because then more air is pumped and the reservoir runs dry. Bummer.
Ill send Tracey off to work at 7:30 or so this morning and try for a quick nap before the marauders descend upon us again.
Another reason we make an effort to be patient with this plague of boys is that even with all that they get up to, we know where our boys are and if we run them all off we would have literally no idea what they were doing.
