This image provided by NASA shows the patch for the treadmill used for exercising in space named after Stephen Colbert. NASA announced Tuesday April 14th, 2009 that it won’t name a room in the international space station after the comedian. Instead, it has named a treadmill after him. NASA, itself an acronym (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), often names things so they spell out something fun. And that’s what they did with the Combined Operational Load Bearing External Resistance Treadmill.

GPS
Some while back I mounted a bracket on my scooter for the GPS unit and we have used the gadget a couple times to keep track of where we are at and where we are going —— the infamous Bloomington trip comes to mind.

Tracey is hoping to ride her scooter to the clinic in Bloomington so we mounted a bracket on her scooter too. It took way too long to drill a couple holes and bolt the thing onto the handlebars.

We took a short ride into Morton to buy an oil filter for the Cub Cadet and then to Woody’s in Groveland for some lunch. Tracey got a chance to see how it works and mess with it a bit while riding.

My only complaint is that it is hard to see sometimes when the sun is on it. Still haven’t figured out a good way to shade it.

The Oil Change
Talk about screwing things up! I got the mower out on the driveway yesterday after Tracey left for work and gathered up the tools, drain pan and oil filter wrench to change the oil. I drained the oil, changed the filter while the oil was draining and dumped my last two quarts of 10W-30 into the engine when the oil stopped dripping, the drain plug was back in and the filter was on.

I fired up the engine, let it run for a bit, then checked the oil. What! Almost a quart too much oil. Then I notice it wasn’t sitting so too level on the drive and I parked it in the garage. I don’t want to run the engine all summer with a quart of dirty oil in it so I drained the oil again and this time the whole thing seemed to drain properly and it was still a nasty muddy brown so I know there was still plenty of the old dirty oil in there.

I’m actually a little surprised that little bit of slope made such a big difference. I scootered to Fart & Fleem to buy a couple more quarts of oil and then just gave up on it. I will put the plug back in, put the oil in, etc. later today. I just got tired of messing with it!
