In this image taken with a cell phone by Jason McLane, the primary presidential aircraft, a Boeing 747 known as Air Force One when the president is aboard, flies low over New York Harbor, followed by an F-16 chase plane during a federal government photo op Monday, April 27th, 2009. A low flying Boeing 747 escorted by two fighter jets as part of a federal government photo opportunity over lower Manhattan caused a brief panic among workers near ground zero on Monday.
I think this may be the greatest political news since Obummer was elected. If Minnesota ever quits screwing around and seats Al Franken then the Dimocrats will be able legislate without all the GQP filibusters and nonsense. Perhaps they could get this country straightened out!
This is how CNN reports the first 100 day mark for Barry:
Behind closed doors in recent days, senior White House aides have been saying that measuring Obummers first 100 days is the journalistic equivalent of a Hallmark holiday. They dont mean anything, quipped 1 aide, but you have to observe them.
I agree. And in a lot of days this tradition is impossible to match with what I think was the original origin of this tradition. Ive done some snooping about the Internets and it appears this whole 100 days thing started with Franklin Roosevelt in 1933. There are some major differences between then and now which really make the comparison rather faulty. Roosevelt had far less political partisanship to deal with Congress was eager to pass anything he proposed and 15 major pieces of law were signed in that 1st 100 days. And there were no Rush Limbaughs, Fox Spews, or other rabidly partisan hecklers bothering Roosevelt.
I wish Obummer all the luck in the world but I have no inclination to believe he can or will have the success of Roosevelt. Obummer appears to be less inclined to use his position to force the things we need done and he doesnt think bold enough. We will never have a health care system that works properly without getting rid of the strangle hold both the insurance companies and the drug cartels have on us. The doctors union, the AMA, needs to be reigned in. We have to stop messing around in Afghanistan and Iraq. Etc. Etc. Etc. Im sure we will hear a lot of hoopla today about this traditional Hallmark holiday it will be exaggerated just like all the stories the media invents today and in the end will mean far less in reality than all the time and effort wasted upon it.
