Los Angeles riots, 17 years ago April 29, 1992 —— The workers of Caterpillar (including myself) were embroiled in a labor dispute. I remember that date well because the cops were all pissed they had to deal with us and they were worried there would be rioting in Peoria because of the “Rodney King Verdict” when the cops got off for nearly beating him to death. I don’t condone the riots in Los Angeles and other places, but I certainly understand the injustice of the misuse of police authority. After all, Cat union workers were being falsely arrested at the time.
