Artifacts are a major portion of an Indian reservations economy. Annually, thousands of tourists visit reservations and most will not leave without purchasing at least one memento of the traditional Indian culture.
One enterprising Indian was able to outsell his competitors in the sale of wooden dolls by selling them at only a fraction of the cost others had to charge. On examination of his dolls they found that where traditionally hard wood was used, this Indian would use cheap pine on which he glued thin pieces of fine mahogany, thus being able to produce the dolls at only a fraction of the cost.
While he claimed his dolls were still authentic, his competitors complained that it was only a cheap Sioux Veneer.
Some time ago the pull chain came off the ceiling light fixture in the sun room. I fiddled with it a while yesterday and finally got the chain back on with the help of some pliers. I was sure I had the little do-hickey clamped down tight and even turned the light on and off several times. Tracey came home from work and broke it again with the first pull. Go figure.
We watched some episodes from the show Criminal Minds last evening and I was floored about some of the obvious technical mistakes in the show. In one they were showing these two psychos who were killing people by hunting them with compound bows and target arrows. Complete with all this discussion about how the bow was a better weapon than the shotgun because it would inflict more damage and cause more bleeding. Perhaps with a real arrow head designed for hunting but not with the shiny little tip of a target arrow. It would have taken so little to make the show more realistic but as it was I suspect anyone who has ever seen an arrow used for hunting it was pretty much a running joke.

Wow...October is half over....where did it go??!!! Im so sick of this weather. I have lots to do outside to get the yard and things ready for winter. I will probably be out there in the snow getting it all done! Let there be some sunshine soon!!

I second that emotion! We still need to put the mower and yard stuff away and get the garage cleared out enough to get two cars back in there. Shhhh! NO talk about snow yet!
