Why is “phonics” not spelled the way it sounds?

On the first day of college, the Dean addressed the students:

“The female dormitory is out-of-bounds for all male students, and the male dormitory to the female students.  Anybody caught breaking this rule will be fined $20 the first time.  The second time you will be fined $60.  A third time will cost you a fine of $180.  Are there any questions?”

A male student inquired, “How much for a season pass?”

We went to Alan’s house last evening rather than the usual Saturday night dinner at the Cracked Barrel.  Alan and Gloria hosted the First Annual Legel Family Soup Dinner and it was a resounding success as far as I am concerned.  There was a variety of soup to choose from and some good desserts.  Tracey had a little bit too much wine and her “filter” was a bit off.  Fortunately she didn’t say anything about anyone who was actually at the dinner.  DD drove Mom over in Mom’s car and there was some panic at the end of the visit when she couldn’t find the car keys ... they turned out to be in Mom’s coat pocket.

It was good to visit with everyone, especially with Noah and Denise.  It was the first time in quite a long time that our entire family was together at a dinner table. Ben and Aaron stayed for a while but left to come home and play computer games.

It sure was!  And we brought home enough leftovers to feed us for today and maybe even tomorrow!  Stay warm!

It was a Great Success! and I want to thank everyone for making it so.  It was very nice to see everyone and share in family.  It was so nice to see Denise and Noah and all the other kids having such a good time...kinda felt like a torch was being passed on to the next generation...They are old enough now to share in the adult conversations and to reminisce about their days of growing up.

Thanks again everyone!...Looks like we will have to do it again sometime!
