Free! For only $100! We, as a society, have gotten awfully free with the definition of the word free.
I plucked this ad out of the many spam offers I get every day in my email and it immediately brought out the curmudgeon in me. I cant find any way that box of paper is free if I have to spend $100 to get it. At best I might get a small discount on the purchases I make but none of it will be free. Just like there is no free lunch.
This twist of the word free is similar to the way marketing people use the word save. The only way I know to save money is to put it aside somewhere and not spend it! Again, you may spend less for an item but you dont save anything by spending money.

I drove Tracey to work yesterday so she wouldnt have to trek across from the parking lot in the pouring rain. It had quit raining by the time she got off work but at least she got to work dry.
I cheated just a bit on my calories yesterday for supper. There was some leftover hamburger in the fridge that Tracey had made for taco salad. After I measured out what I should have eaten I ended up taking it all so I went over by about almost 200 calories. Oh Well. But I have to watch that doesnt become a habit!
