A Varanus bitatawa, pictured in 2009 in the Philippines. Scientists reported on the “spectacular” discovery a previously unknown species of fruit-eating lizard as big as a full-grown man. Astonished researchers found the secretive but brightly-coloured beast, a close cousin of the fearsome Komodo Dragons of Indonesia, in a hard-to-reach river valley of northern Luzon Island in the Philippines.

I had a nice breakfast conversation with Michael T. yesterday morning. Actually not all the conversation was nice but even the not-so-nice conversation was in good company. We pretty much started and ended with the thought that although we are very fortunate in many ways —— life in America could be better if people would just learn to play nice together.

It is raining outside right now so I don’t know if I will get my walk or not. Hopefully it will clear up soon. Tracey is going to be unhappy though because she had planned to work on her new pond construction and it is full of water again.
