Yesterday I finally made a couple of phone calls I have been putting off for a while. First, I need a new mask for my #CPAP machine. I have had the same one for over two years now and the straps are about shot —— so it doesn’t fit as well as it should anymore.
I called to make an appointment at the same pulmonologist my Mom goes to. The lady I talked to didn’t know if he would see me or not. She told me I would have to get a copy of my sleep study from Pekin Hospital. It sounds like I have more studies, tests, etc. to look forward to just to get a new mask. Medical Mafia at work.

#Piaggio I also called Illinois Cycling in Peoria to make an appointment to get a new rear tire on my motorcycle. They informed me they don’t service anything they didn’t sell. I told the guy we were among their first customers and they didn’t sell us our motorcycles. In fact, we had ours a couple years before they even started selling them.
He told me to call back in October “when things slow down” and they would try to “work me in”. Is it just me or does it seem like more and more businesses are trying NOT to get any repeat business.

Well...I’m in the doghouse now! The high school principal just called to set up a meeting with me. He needs to tell me what I can and cannot do with the FFA/Ag program at the high school. I guess I’m going to get my hand slapped.
Oh well! A farmer here in Morton and I have been trying to keep the ag program at the high school. They told us that “the numbers” were low. So, we doubled “the numbers” for last year. This year, we had 27 kids sign up for FFA...almost tripled “the numbers” from 2 years ago.
Last year, I waited and waited for the help that was promised me. This year, I decided to get going with it and just do it! I guess we’re too big now! If we were marching band...........
Hang in there Tammy! Just let him know he is “NOT THE BOSS OF YOU!” What you do on your own time is really not his concern. I obviously don’t know all the details, but if there is a sign up for a class or activity —— I can’t see how he can control how many sign up, who signs up, or who campaigns to get more people to sign up, etc. His authority disappears at the door of the high school. Hey Tammy, Just remind this guy that Morton wouldn’t exist without it’s AG heritage. Some of the most prominent people in Morton had their beginnings and continue to work in AG. Come on! Pumpkin Festival? Yordy turkeys? Etc. etc. etc.
I really don’t get why they want to downplay the very history that made Morton what it is today. Maybe you could ask him that? A good offense is your best defense.

Sure wish you were going with me today! I’m not a very good fighter. My mind doesn’t think fast enough. This town is all about Marching Band, being ranked #1, the best test scores, and college prep courses. They don’t give a hoot about the kids!
We have an $80,000.00 greenhouse just sitting there too! This principal and our superintendent are retiring after this year. I don’t know if that will help or hurt the ag program. The teacher that Andy and Tom had was FANTASTIC!
However, the h.s. principal didn’t like her so he “made” her choose to leave. She has 2 kids and her husband was just starting his own business when the h.s. principal told her part time (no benefits) or leave basically. It was a bad deal and has left a sour taste in some people’s mouths.
The problem is (with me) that I went to the Section 5 ag teachers meeting at the beginning of Aug. I started talking to the guy, Jess, that goes between the schools and the FFA. I know too much now and they can’t passify me any more!
I don’t ask the principal any more, I go straight to Jess to get my answers. Jess, the principal, the super. had a meeting and things were discussed about having an independent study for Intro. to Ag. We needed just 1 student to do it. Well, I found that out and took it upon myself to get names.
I have 2 names for sure. So I sent an email asking to meet with whoever I needed to meet with to get this going. I figured they’d say “no teacher” so I also told them in the email how it could be taught!
Should be interesting today....IF he keeps the appt. time. He told me he’d call me if he couldn’t meet today.
Whatever! Ashley is laughing at me and saying “you’re in trouble...you have to go to the principal’s office”... Let’s make life interesting!
Oh, the principal doesn’t even live in Morton and is not from Morton and neither is the superintendent so why would they care about the history of Morton, Yordy’s, Ackermans, etc.
I think the principal lives in Tremont. The super. moved here because Morton is the place to become the super. for 3-5 years before retirement because we pay well. They retire on a higher salary. There’s a job opening next year...want it!

Heh! Not on my life! Besides I don’t have any alphabet soup behind my signature so I’m not “qualified”. I don’t live in Morton but I DO appreciate your efforts. I’ve “been there, done that” and it is impossible to talk with the big-headed imbeciles when it comes to education. They are all about “being in charge”, etc. Again —— Good Luck!
