#CPAP#Piaggio I rode my motorcycle to Pekin yesterday to get the copy of my sleep study from Pekin Hospital. I managed to get lost right after I stepped off the elevator. That place is laid out like the roads in Pekin and no signs to point the way.
All this trouble for a one page report that is basically meaningless because it was written by Larry the Cable Guy pretending to be a medical technician. Oh Well. Jump through the hoops.

I am waiting breathlessly (I always wanted to use that word in a sentence!) for Tammys report on being sent to the principals office!

It is the first day of the month so I go around to my Internet sites and change my passwords. Everybody is crazy for passwords anymore.
Update: 05/01/19 I have recently started using a password manager that encrypts passwords so I dont have to change them so regularly anymore.
My bank scared me a little though. It says An Improved Online Experience is Coming Soon!.
So that means they must have some new people working on the web site. They always screw it up for a couple weeks while they are improving it. I cant wait. They usually add some pretty pictures and bright colors that take longer to load up and get rid of the actual content I might want to see in the process. Marketing people suck.

Private prisons industry flooded #RickPerrys campaign coffers during reelection bid.
Awwwwwwww....COFFEE! I had to fast for a 7 a.m. blood draw!
Well, no detention, but no good behavior sticker either! The principal is going to let us do some things (nothing that involves him or him taking care of something!)
The one thing he said we cant do was to have an independent study Intro. to Ag class this semester. School has been in session for 3 weeks now.....so what! The 2 girls are not happy so they are going to talk to him and to their parents. Well see how far they get!
Of course, if no I.S. this semester, we are then really not a true FFA chapter. I think the other ag teachers (who I met are extremely nice!) will let our kids compete if they want.
The other problem is, of course, if we are without 2 ag classes for 2 years, we loose our FFA standing. Well, guess what..this is our 2nd year!
You would hope the administration would HELP us to keep our FFA standing...yea, right!
The I.S. is even easier thanks to Tom Legel! He did Intro. to Ag that way with Malena Rogers (the best teacher that Morton drove away!). So its an approved I.S. class, lessons are done, tests are done, and no school board approval is needed because of Tom!
All we need is a teacher and students. We have the students and I think I can twist the teachers arm a little harder! I told him that Id sneak them to the Morton Library computers and do his job for free! Geez!
The one thing that really bothered me was that the school district and the teachers have an understanding and a mutual agreement kind of in contractual language....to not work them too hard!
Oh brother! I know youre a union supporter, but in this case its ridiculous! In a 7 period day, they get 3 free periods! They have to be there between 7:30 and 7:45 and go home way before 4. So, that means that I have to get him to volunteer -- they cant/wont ask him to do this. They dont even have to meet every day!
Im sorry, but I sure dont think 30-45 mins. of his time is that serious! AND he gets paid to be the FFA Advisor, which really doesnt do anything because hes not a certified ag teacher!
Oh, thats the other catch with the I.S. The Intro class has to be taught by a cert. ag teacher. The teacher can get a 1 year provisional cert. by taking a test (which he will kick and scream about Im sure).
See, this administration took away 2 years ago the 1 thing we really need -- a certified ag teacher! The only reason we have the ag course BSAA (a biological science/ag class) is because anybody can teach it and its a credited science class in the eyes of the state, the h.s. and colleges.
Last year, we had 1 class of BSAA students. This year, they had to have 2 classes because of the ag interest and then some didnt even get in. My partner in crime and myself doubled the interest. But who cares about that too!
They are basically going to screw us over one way or another and theres not a damn thing we can do! Im just hoping we can keep the interest going up for ag classes and add more classes next year. The principal mentioned ag mechanics, welding, transportation all in one.
I was told that there was no welding class this year because they forgot to offer it! Of course, the principal didnt say that! AND the welding businesses in this town CALLED the high school looking for welders!
The teacher said, oops, sorry, we have no welding here! I just dont know where the brains are in these people!
Get off the college prep crap! College teachers teach their own way so those classes are just a waste. I guess the name looks good in transcripts, but who cares! My kids, and others kids, have come out of this h.s. and struggled big time with ICC math courses!
Ashley had to start at a lower class than h.s. and doesnt even get transfer credit for it! Gee, youre high ranking h.s. means a lot to me! blah!
I just wish parents would SPEAK UP! Ive heard so many parents complain to me about the no recess crap (except after lunch) and how they hate it and the kids hate it! Well, SAY SOMETHING! UGH!
So, anyway, I guess Im forgiven by him, but I have NOT and will NOT forgive him and our administration!

Oh yea, I sent the principal an email (and the teacher) because I have a friend thats willing to help and she has:
...Tazewell county sub certificate, a master of science in ag economics from U of I and I have taught intro to ag Econ (micro and macro) as well as rural poverty and development at U of I so if I can do ANYTHING let me know!
I bet that just sits well with the principal!
Tammy 01 Sep 2011, 7:52 a.m.
Sorry to hear all this Tammy. Especially the part about no coffee this morning! (I always drink mine black so I drink all I want before doctor appointments)
I can understand the part about the teaching hours, but I wouldnt be so sure it is the unions fault unless you heard it from a union source. Employers lie. It is easier to blame current employees and overwork them than hire more people.
The bottom line with these people is the bottom line. They are a part of the #EducationMafia and see their job as funneling kids into college, not preparing them for life. They dont see any money going into the education industry if we prepare students more cost effectively. I know that is frustrating and I also know how frustrating it is that parents dont get more involved. Unfortunately most parents just dont do any research into what is going on (or not going on) in the schools.

Youre right that the big wigs tell ya what they think you want to hear. Pacify and move on! Well, I dont like pacifiers any more -- Im too old for them!
I think part of my irritation is that I always have been and always will be in there for the kids! My mouth has gotten a little bigger as Ive gotten older.
The french teacher at the h.s. goes WAY above and beyond for the kids. She started a french club that meets at least twice a month after school. They do some really fun, neat things. The kids really like her as a teacher too.
I know most parents think that french isnt important -- spanish is -- but, hey, our language is ENGLISH! Anything else is just icing on the cake.
No, the foreign language may not be used after h.s., but its another one of those required by govt classes!
I will say, they do have about 3 classes that teach life skills: Foods/nutrition, creative fashions, and resource management. Of course, these are barely being taught! Out of these, only resource management is required. It teaches checkbooks, debit cards, credit cards, loans, etc. (not exceptionally well, but...) I think all kids learn about cooking and sewing at least a button on! But, oh, they can solve 2x3a+4b).....
I will get off my soap box now!
Thats why I LOVE my job...we TEACH THEM LIFE SKILLS!
Better get moving...got a drs. appt. with that medical mafia in Peoria this morning! Oh boy!
Tammy 01 Sep 2011, 8:37 a.m.
Wow, that sucks. I have to say that the most useful classes I took in High School were Resource Management (which, in hindsight, should be more than one semester even though it was the driest class ever) and seventh grade English (where they actually taught English and grammar). If I had to build stuff more often I might have found more of a use for Geometry, but as it stands, I use English and Resource Management skills more than anything else I learned in school.
Noah L 01 Sep 2011, 2:31 p.m.
I agree Noah! Resource Management should be expanded and longer than a semester! Then after you graduate h.s., you get to turn around and take the same h.s. courses again, but in a different building!
Ashley has English, math, art/music, french...almost the exact same courses she took in h.s.
I wish Andy would of/could of taken accounting in h.s....maybe it would of helped him to get thru that class the first go round in college! He has to have accounting for his major -- horticulture.
