On February 8th, 2003 we bought a 1998 Ford Taurus from Dale Smith Auto Sales in Morton for $4,423.00 including tax, title and license. It had 77,137 miles on it when we bought it. We sold it yesterday morning for $500.00 and it had 163,489 miles on it. Not a bad bargain for an old beater 86,352 miles for $3,923 cost. Of course you have to add in all the cost of maintenance and upkeep, etc. But we would have had that on any car we had bought.
I think we got our moneys worth out of that poor, beat up old car. All 3 of our boys learned to drive in that car. It got run into a guard rail and backed into a couple times. Both cars that hit it were white and the driver side door has two white creases to attest. It has an old piece of brass plumbing hose clamped into the power steering line that Tracey climbed under there and used to fix a leaky hose. It has a couple 2nd hand knobs on the dash to replace the air flow switches that got knocked off over the years. The warning light to tell you the passenger door is ajar perpetually flashes red whether the door is closed or not. It has stickers from Pekin Hospital and Caterpillar in the windshield and nobody has worked at either place for years.
The poor old thing became part of the family in a way and I am really surprised at how fast it was sold. I put an ad up on Craigslist at around 9:30 yesterday morning and we received several phone calls and emails immediately. I had two people on cell phones calling me as they were on their way to look at it and 1 showed up in the driveway as the buyer was handing me five $100 bills. It all happened so fast it almost made my head spin!

It was good to get the rain last evening but now the grass is going to grow! My summer time nemesis!
Good morning! Im still here. I dont know what was going on with my computer. It stopped whatever it was doing - at least for now.
I went to my last Morton High School graduation! Yea!
My niece graduated yesterday and then the family hung out afterwards at my house. It was a little hot on that football field. It didnt help that a couple of the speakers were long winded! Sure wish theyd get the drift that the kids with tassels waiting to be pushed over are NOT listening to you speak! Oh well, D-O-N-E!
Kind of weird to not have school today. Im going to go anyway to set my room up for the summer program. I am then going to mow and enjoy the 70s!

Good Morning Tammy! I was wondering if your computer was still working or not! I can still remember my high school graduation as a deadly boring affair. I was one of those kids who walked off the field as soon as they handed me the diploma. As I recall Noah didnt even bother to go to his and I couldnt blame him. Enjoy your day and dont work too hard.

Yeah, I decided not to bother with the graduation ceremony--I wouldve had to take time off from work for the rehearsals and I was going to get my diploma either way, so I didnt see much point in doing the ceremony, itself. I was in a hurry to be done with High School.

Hi Noah, I know exactly what you mean! I didnt go to any of the rehearsals or the baccalaureate thing but I went to graduation because some of my friends talked me into. It was a total waste of time! Good to hear from you hope you are healing up OK?
