I have an appointment to see the pulmonologist today. I don’t really want to and I didn’t make the appointment voluntarily —— it was forced upon me. I would like to preface my following complaints with the statement that I absolutely appreciate the better quality of life that modern medicine affords me. There is no doubt my life would be less enjoyable without it —— in fact I might be dead already but ——

I absolutely detest the exorbitant costs, confusion, red tape and extortion the #MedicalMafia exacts. This continuing saga with the pulmonologist started about six weeks ago when I went to Pekin Prescription Lab (#PPL) to get a new mask for my Bi-Pap machine. I went because I still had a valid prescription and wanted to get a replacement before it ran out. Silly me. They called the doctor’s office to get a new prescription. The doctor I had last seen has stopped seeing patients and dumped me to another doctor. They provided the prescription and told me I needed to come in because they had provided it. Then I find out that once again my insurance won’t pay for the stupid mask unless I see the doctor —— so I have to go this afternoon. I still haven’t got the new mask and I am beginning to wonder if I ever will, but in the meantime I will be out the time and cost of a doctor visit and whatever further testing etc. the new guy decides will benefit his cash flow.
