This little historical tidbit from “This Day in History”.
1678 • American Indians sold the Bronx to Jonas Bronck for 400 beads.
If you put this in context it really makes the white guy seem pretty silly because the Native Americans in question had no concept of land ownership. They probably thought they had ripped the white guy off because everybody knows you can’t really “own” land —— when there was so much open land available to occupy what idiot would WANT to own it? To this day —— you don’t really own anything unless you have the might to keep it from being taken from you.
And there is this for today’s history ——
1945 • The first network television broadcast occurred in Washington, DC. The program announced the bombing of Nagasaki, Japan.
What a sad way to begin network TV and I guess things haven’t really changed all that much have they?

This isn’t really a weird headline, more like a fantasy. I would love to see some of the bankers and Wall St. jerks get tortured. Just a little. Then jailed for life.
