We spent some time sorting out how Ben’s “Cougar Card” works. He has an ID card that also functions as a credit card of sorts but when we went online it only showed a balance that was 40% of what he had actually paid. We couldn’t make sense of it at first but after looking further through the SIUE web site we found that for some goofy reason that is exactly how they operate the darn thing. When you buy a meal at their selected campus sites they only charge you 40% of the sticker price. The only thing we can figure out is this a sneaky way of screwing the students who happen to buy something that is not part of the system. Full price would be taken off their card and they lose the 60% discount. I really get sick of all the schemes businesses use to rip people off.
