Tracey said we needed to get some stuff for Louie at Petsmart so that was a good excuse to get breakfast at the Hometown Buffet in Peoria yesterday morning.
Tracey mentioned on the drive over that Ben had called her at around one in the morning to report he had been in a car accident.
Ben and his room mate Todd were coming home from visiting another friend when a deer jumped in front of the car. Nobody was hurt (except the deer) and the car wasnt so damaged they couldnt drive it.
The police arrived on the scene and promptly loaded up the buck (with lotsa antlers, Ben said) and gave the guys an accident report. I am very glad the guys werent injured and also glad it wasnt our car. (I dont suppose Todds folks are too thrilled about having to get their car fixed.)

So glad Ben and his room mate werent hurt! Deer are a very scary thing when on a road. I always worry about the kids coming from ISU home. That spot by the rest area is a great place for deer. Dave and I have seen them in there before.

Good Morning Tammy, Tracey had already gone to bed and she said she knew it couldnt be good news when the phone rang that time of night.
Turns out it wasnt horrible news after all. Ben apologized for calling so late but Tracey said he and Todd were just so wound up about all that excitement.
I expect it would get the adrenaline pumping! Tracey has hit a deer and a coyote in the same stretch of Allentown Rd. between our lane and the top of the hill. We always slow down when driving through there at dusk and dark.

A town in northwest Louisiana was being evacuated and state police were starting a criminal investigation of a company after finding about 6 million pounds of explosive material used in howitzers they say was stored illegally.
