#MedicalMafia Over the past few weeks I have been dealing with the deluge of bills and statements from doctors, hospitals, clinics, ambulance, etc. for Mom. It is a maze of greed and deceit as far as I can tell and often I have to call to straighten out the amounts they claim are owed to them. Medicare and the insurance company provide detailed statements of how much they pay to whom for whatever and I continually catch these money grubbers trying to overcharge. I might consider these instances as the “mistakes” they claim they are —— except not once, NOT ONCE, has the “mistake” been in our favor.
Odd how that seems to happen isn’t it? Charging thousands of dollars for unnecessary tests and procedures is bad enough but then they try to extort even more on top of that? Disgusting.

Here’s one that I know you’ll appreciate...
I balance my checkbook and pay bills on line with CEFCU every Sat. morning. I also check the savings accounts of everybody to make sure all is well.
Well, today there was a $10.00 “Rejected check fee” on Ashley’s account. I have never seen this in the 37 years that I’ve been with CEFCU. Of course, I blamed Ashley for doing something to cause it. She had no idea why so I called them.
I was told that I didn’t use the right account number for the state refund check to be direct deposit and they had to hand deposit it. I did have a problem with her routing or account number last year, but all went well.
Ashley got a letter from CEFCU earlier saying to be careful with routing and account numbers this year when doing taxes. I saved the letter and was VERY careful when I entered it. I entered the exact number that was on their 1099 INT form. BUT...guess what....that account number wasn’t correct.
They forgot the three zeros at the end! So, because I copied their account number, she got charged $10.00! They have her account number on her statements right and wrong - on the same piece of paper.
Needless to say, CEFCU just heard from me! They had better give her the $10.00 back and soon!

Hi Tammy, Don’t you just love how indignant THEY get when you try to explain THEY screwed up and not you. It’s bad enough when it is just a normal screw-up but it is really infuriating when they charge you penalties for their mistakes. Good Luck —— I hope you get your ten bucks back!
