I went to #Schnucks in Pekin yesterday for groceries. The place is still a colossal mess! Even worse than the last time I was there. I can’t find any rhyme or reason for most of the stuff they are changing around except maybe they think it will confuse people enough to buy more junk food.

Sort of like the theory of putting candy bars and crap all around the check out aisles so thick you can’t turn around without knocking stuff down. There is so little room anymore you can’t get the cart through sometimes without things ending up on the floor —— and that’s where I leave them if that happens. I am so sick of how commercial everything is anymore.

I called our cell phone company, #USCellular, to ask some questions about what it would cost to get wireless Internet for our house. Nobody answered. After two minutes of pressing buttons and listening to advertisements I was told my wait time would be another twelve minutes. I hung up. They are under different management now. The last time I called I talked to a person within a couple minutes. And so it goes.

After that last comment I happened to think I hadn’t seen a bill from #USCellular or paid a bill for the last week or so —— and it should be due. So I went to the web site and found these graphics (I mashed two of them together) below —— I guess poor customer service on the phone line isn’t the only problem the new management is having.

Fast-food joint picketers seek minimum-wage hike

I just thought the choice of words really tells the writer’s point of view about those who work at a “joint” for minimum wage. As if nobody who is anybody would work there. The employees are called “low wage workers” as if the paltry wages the EMPLOYER pays defines the people who work there instead of the other way around.

This “blame the worker” attitude runs deeper when it is reported they also receive “public assistance” —— yet no mention that most “fast food joints” are multi-national Fortune 500 corporations with major profits and their employees are on public assistance. Corporate Welfare in other words.

The “Nanny State” continues to grow more weird by
the day. The courts allowed a law suit against
someone for SENDING a text message to a driver?
How much more stupid can our society put up with?

Can you really be liable for texting a driver?
