The world is a tragedy to those who feel,
but a comedy to those who think.

Animal Tracks

An adult male elephant looks up at a helicopter in a remote area of South Sudan. South Sudan’s elephant population has already dropped to less than 5,000 from around 80,000 in the 1950s.
I went to Menard’s yesterday to get some wire for the new generator hook up. I wanted 25 feet of #10 - 4 wire without plugs.

I couldn’t find what I was looking for and tracked down the kid who was working in the electrical section. I found him talking to a guy who wanted to move a 220 volt dryer outlet and the kid was giving him some really bad advice about how to wire the plugs.

I started to correct him but he got a bit snippy so I stayed out of it, but I sure hope this customer asks somebody else who knows what they are doing because he might end up killing himself, burning his house down —— or both.

Alan dropped by for a short visit later in the afternoon. He rode his scooter as it might be one of the last decent days warm enough to ride it.

We talked a little about the terrible damage from the tornado. We have a mutual friend who works for Ameren and Alan had a chance to talk with him recently.

He had been working sixteen hour days since the storms to get power back to everybody and he had some real stories to tell about the storm damage.
