#Memories Ben returned to school yesterday and true to his word he sent text messages to his parents letting us know he was still alive and not dead in a ditch somewhere. That sounds a bit crude but the whole dead in a ditch meme started years ago when the boys first started venturing out and about the countryside at all hours of the night.
Tracey admonished them that if something bad happened, like they had crashed somewhere and were dead in a ditch they wouldnt be able to text or phone so hearing from them every now and then meant we could worry less. That was the theory anyway. But many times we dont know because the dont always let us know that they arent dead in a ditch and we can only presume that since we havent heard from the state police or somebody after a couple days that they are alive.
Thanks Ben.

Yes! Im very strict on that let me know you arent dead in a ditch policy! Im sure we did it to our parents a number of times, but I dont like being on the parent side and wondering or worrying! Glad they made it back safely.
Today is....do everything that I havent done since Dec. 27th day! The bills....the Christmas decorations....the unpacking....the laundry...the dishes.....Oh, I think I need a vacation!

Hi Tammy, We have become less demanding as they have grown up and moved away to college etc. We dont demand any text messages from Noah in Arizona, but sometimes we wish he still sent them every day! You have to be a parent I guess to understand what it is to be a Mom or Dad forever! Thank goodness for Facebook in that regard we can keep track of him that way sometimes.
I know what you mean about vacation it is so good to get away, and then it is so good to get back, and then you want to get away again when you see the pile of bills, etc.!
