Today is National Tap Dance Day. This day was created in honor of the birthday of legendary tap dancer Bill Bojangles Robinson on May 25th, 1878.

We went to Lowes yesterday and ordered up a new #FrontDoor. The sales guy tried to sell us a different brand than the Pella door we had picked out. We told him to price both and it turns out the Pella door was over $1,000 cheaper. So much for the sales guy. To be fair, I think he thought the other door would be cheaper because he seemed as surprised as we were.

I read a story about Bill Bojangles Robinson to my 5 year olds. They really got into the story and wanted to talk about and ask questions for a bit after reading the story.
Thats the days I love the most in teaching.....spark an interest in something and they WANT to learn more! Speaking of which, I had a mom say that her son was begging to go to the Morton Library constantly. I said, oops, my fault! That was his spark that I lit.
Well, before school ended this year, he brought in 3 books that he could read and did read to the class. Also, he got his very own library card and was ready to read books! Now, thats why I teach!
I also love the hatching of chicks too. Thanks again to Mr. Legel for finding that wonderful garage sale bargain! Love my incubator!

Hi Tammy, I have only a very few teachers I remember who helped spark interest in reading and learning. Most of them just went through the day about as bored as the students. Made for long classes when the teacher wasnt interested. Your students are lucky to have you!

Thanks for the compliment! I love my 5 day class. You can do so much more with them when they come every day.
The 3 year olds are my challenge every year. They are at babysitting status when they come to school and Im NOT a babysitter! I handle that class a little better than when I 1st started teaching at the preschool, but its so hard to remember that they are only 3!
I remind myself all the time that they are there to learn how to play with others, share with others, how to listen and follow directions, and how to go to school. Of course, I always add more in hopes at least one of the kids wants more. (just cant keep my mouth shut)
