A Few Of My Picks For This Day In History.

Alisa, 10, gets a kiss from one of the wolves her family tamed in the village of Zacherevye, Belarus.
Our new Ford has a remote starter and it is really nice to have the car warmed up a little before you climb in on a cold day.

So I thought I would see if we could get one for Tracey’s VW Beetle. I called the dealer in Peoria and they said they didn’t do that but I should call the national VW number.

So I did that and the national VW people say they don’t know from nothing except it would void our warranty and I should call the local dealership.

Nobody really seems to know anything about it then I guess. So maybe I will call around to some of the local car shops but I find it odd that the people who make these cars seem to have little or no idea about something this simple and basic.

Obummer announces executive actions on immigration policy during a nationally televised address from the White House in Washington, November 20th, 2014. Obummer outlined a plan on Thursday to ease the threat of deportation for about 4.7 million undocumented immigrants.

Obummer said he’s taking the executive action after Congress failed to bring to a vote what he described as “a comprehensive fix” to the country’s immigration system.

Good Morning Michael,
Try callinng Truck n Stuff in Peoria. They have installed remote start in three vehicles for us and we have been very happy with the service.
Sue T. 21 Nov 2014, 6:14 a.m.
Thank You Sue!
I’ll look them up today and give them a call. I’ve read on the Internet of people having it done in other cities and states but couldn’t get any help from VW about it. It would make a wonderful Christmas present for Tracey!
MjL 21 Nov 2014, 6:16 a.m.
I’ll second what Sue said and add that Dad had Truck n Stuff put one on his fairly new Tundra truck and Toyota put theirs on his Avalon. He is much happier with the one from Truck n Stuff. You can drop your vehicle off or wait, (I think it only took about an hour), with an appointment. Just north of $300 for the last one we had them do.

If you don’t know, they are located on 150, on the left side as you are climbing up into Peoria, less than a mile from the river, (I think).

Thanks Michael,
I was just looking at their web site and took a screen grab to my phone so I can put it in my GPS later. Don’t you just love technology? I’m not sure I could work a paper map anymore?
MjL 21 Nov 2014, 6:50 a.m.
I know you were being facetious, I can still work a paper map but why would I? The GPS has sooo much more going for it. I have Garmins and have MapSource on my computer. THEY have switched to BaseCamp but I am still using the old one and love planning routes for our motorcycle, (well car too but usually they are motorcycle), trips and downloading them into the GPS. My old, very expensive GPS that I use on the motorcycle is more powerful, tells me more and works better with my pre-planned routes than my newer Nuvi models but they are both great, the newer lets me speak commands and connects to my phone. You probably have those capabilities built into your cars. Yea, technology is awesome, until the apocolypse, if there is one, then we are going to be sooo lost without our technology. And THAT is assuming the apocolypse takes out our technology. I just finally got a smartphone and it can recognize my face to unlock! Amazing stuff we are doing these days.
Michael T. 21 Nov 2014, 7:35 a.m.
Yes the technology is so much fun! There are so many new things I have read about and really want to get affordable or all the kinks worked out. I want to have ALL my portable stuff recharge wirelessly —— I am so tired of all these connectors and wires! It’s out there already but not just not “universal” enough yet to be practical for me.

I just got off the phone with the guy at Truck n Stuff in Peoria. We have an appointment for next week to get Tracey’s VW Bug a remote starter installed. Thanks to Kyle who also suggested Truck n Stuff in a comment on Facebook. And, of course, thank you to Michael & Sue who told me about the same place earlier here on the Blog. Tracey is so excited!
