Being in the army is like being in the Boy Scouts,
except that the Boy Scouts have adult supervision.

The portions of the #TransPacificPartnership that have been leaked show that it’s a giveaway to corporate interests. Only legislators and lobbyists have seen the whole thing, and most of them want to “fast-track” it to prevent amendments and keep the pesky public from commenting on its terribleness.

Another link from Michael T. with a subject line of —— “A Bit of Sanity?”. I agree that our current “drug war” has been a failure nationally and globally but I don’t see it changing anytime soon simply because there is so much money to be made in pretending the authorities are fighting it rather than getting rich from it.

Global drug policy isn’t working.
These 100+ organizations
want that to change.

#Memories
I was sitting here at the computer the other day and a huge spider descended on a web from the ceiling between my face and the monitor. I jumped back and the spider stopped with a jerk and splayed all 20 legs (whatever) and glared at me.

This monster was about the size of a quarter (or maybe a nickle) and I quickly grabbed a nearby magazine, folded it over, and swatted the spider.

It sailed across the sun room, pinged off a window and landed in one of Tracey’s big potted plants. (I imagine he is lurking there now with a headache.)

Our dumb dog Louie came running over and sat down with a concerned look on his face. He’s not too bright on his best day but I could see he thought I was crazy for waving a magazine around and cursing. He gave a disgusted sniff and wandered away seeing no likelihood he was going to get a snack.

Another day of country living where the spiders and wasps wander into the house like they own the place.
