In the opening scene there is a black soldier unconscious on the ground. He has amnesia when he wakes up.
(Of course, because people get that a lot?)

Then we have a school teacher being disciplined for teaching sex education improperly and coincidentally her daughter is allegedly raped by the high school football star whose father is the town cop.

The mother had forbidden the daughter to go to the football team celebration but the father told her to sneak out of the house and go anyway. (Because, of course, the father of a 16-year-old girl will want her to go to a drunken party?)

The witness to this alleged rape is an effeminate makeup wearing high school boy. Just to round out another stereotype.

We are also introduced to another character as she is lying on the ground getting kicked by some large dude in what appears to be a dairy barn. She rips her duct tape restraint loose, kicks the guy in the gonads and impales him with a pitch fork. Thus she establishes her “I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar” bad-ass female attributes.

In the next scene she is illegally trespassing and then breaking and entering. She also gets to shoot a cop in the back of the head in a later scene. (Just 1 of 3 scenes where people get shot in the head.)

And after she shoots the guy dead a bug crawls out of his mouth. Of course. You just knew that had to happen in a creep show just to be so very original.

All this ridiculous mayhem and Hollywood cliché in the 1st episode of a series seems to be a bit of overkill. (Pun intended)

The ONLY thing even remotely like the original story is the mist. The only things missing were car chases, chainsaw murders, aliens you can only see with special sunglasses and elves. But it is only the 1st episode so there is plenty of time to work 1 or all of those into the series.

I’m thinking I may not be watching any more of this.
